Touchies Summer League starts soon

Elite players and teams compete at a high level

The Summer Touch Rugby League is just around the corner. The previous league that started in September ended just a few weeks ago.

The First Division was won by Team Ruck and Roll with captain Deon Kruger immensely proud to lift the trophy for his team. Team Staalballe with captain Dirk Putter were once again the team to beat as they won the Super League title. Captain Louw Gouws and his Team Cowboys took on their competitors with aplomb and won the 2nd Division title.

The league’s format will remain the same, splitting teams into divisions based on the skills level and fitness of their members. Teams consist of a maximum of 10 players and a minimum of five.

In the Super League, elite players and teams compete at a high level.

In the First and Second Divisions, teams play for social reasons and to have fun competing against each other.

The first week will be grading week while weeks two to eight will see teams playing for a spot in the top four.

In the ninth week the semifinals will be played, followed by the finals the next week.

The 10-week league starts on 1 February and matches will take place on Wednesday evenings from 7pm at Sterkfontein Heritage Lodge in Rant-en-Dal.
