I have read the article Motor enigste dak oor sy kop in the edition of 16 December, and would like to give some more information regarding this story.
We are a group of people who have been using Len Rutter Park in Florida to walk our dogs for the last 30 years. Recently we ran into some trouble. The man referred to in the article has been causing havoc in the park by trying to run the people (and their dogs) down with his car. He is not always sober, is very aggressive and uses foul language towards anyone visiting the park.
He has tried to run me over a few times and most recently, ran down one of the female dog walkers – injuring her dog in the process and leaving her extremely traumatised.
He races around the Florida area as if he owns the place, and I have witnessed an incident with one of the residents that ended in physical violence. We have spoken to the Florida SAPS as well as the Ward councillor, Caleb Finn, about this dangerous situation and they assured us it will be looked into. I have always enjoyed visiting the park, but am not going there anymore – I do not want to invite trouble – and this is the feeling of many of the residents in this area. This situation has now affected many friendships as well.
I would like to appeal to everyone to be very careful when in that area and – if you have considered offering assistance – to please think it over very carefully as he is, in my opinion, a very aggressive and out of control man.
