Festive greetings and safety tips from station commander

The Florida Police‘s station commander, Colonel Charles Chowles, has wished the community well over the festive season, and added some safety tips to his message.
“The Florida Police SAPS Management would like to take this opportunity to wish the community a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
We would like to convey our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the Florida Community Policing Forum (CPF), the sub-forums, the Metro Police, the local security companies, the Florida Public Safety Team, the Florida Victim Support Counsellors, and all the other stakeholders and partners for the positive impact their participation has had on the fight against crime,” he said.
“We appreciate the contribution of community members who have shown interest in the fight against crime. It is true that we cannot function in isolation and therefore we need the community to partner with us in this regard. To ensure that we serve our people with integrity, we commit ourselves to improving our service to the community,” he concluded
He added the following safety tips for those going on holiday:
· Make sure that the security measures to safeguard your property are intensified.
· When you leave the house, ensure that there is someone to safeguard it.
· Leave a radio or television on so that the house looks and sounds occupied.· Get someone to remove your mail from the mail box on a daily basis.
· When you are at home, be extra cautious about locking doors.
· Close the windows when you leave the house.
· Do your shopping during daylight hours if possible.
· Avoid carrying lot of cash and wearing expensive jewellery.
· Even though you may be in a rush, thinking about a lot of things, be alert to your surroundings, especially at ATMs, and do not allow any person to assist you.
