Dear Santa …
All they want for Christmas is for their circumstances to change for the better
Christmas is a time to be festive and happy, but a Davidsonville family is facing a bleak Christmas without much to be festive about.
The family’s breadwinner and father lost his job three years ago and since then the family has been trying very hard to make ends meet by doing the odd handyman job, baking cakes and knitting teddy bears.
In September, their house was broken into and their laptop, cellphones, chargers and other electronics were stolen. They have been battling to pay their rent on time, and are facing eviction. To top all of this their family vehicle has broken down and needs to be repaired.
Although the family is feeling very despondent, they are hoping and praying for a miracle – in which they strongly believe.
The four children (who cannot be identified because they are minors), wrote letters to Santa. These are their Christmas wish lists:
The oldest of the four children, a 16-year-old boy, only wants his little brother and sister to have the opportunity to keep believing in Santa. His wishes include some money to enable his mother to pay the rent, some food and a small present for his little brother and sister.
The wish list for the 14-year-old girl includes food for the family, a doll for her six-year-old sister, toy cars for her seven-year-old brother and some shoes for herself (she wears a size four).
Christmas wishes for the seven-year-old boy include a Ben 10 watch, a skateboard, books to read and toy cars. His six-year-old sister is wishing for a Barbie watch, pens, colouring pencils and a tea set. Both the youngsters would also like some sweets for Christmas.
