It is the season of giving

Annual street market and carols by candlelight huge success

Cold and rainy weather could not dampen the spirits of visitors at the Discovery Multi Charities annual street market recently.

Averil Botha, the organiser of this annual event, was thrilled that people still came to the market, even though the weather was not ideal. The festivities started at about 4pm until late evening.

There were quite a few people selling delicious food and handmade goods, and Averil’s book shop was also open. All the proceeds and donations received on the evening, were donated to the nine charities supported by the Multi Charities organisation.

The visitors were entertained by singers, music as well as the Western Line Dancers. The children had a chance to win some lovely prizes with a fancy dress competition judged by Father Christmas himself. At the end of the competition he could not decide who should win, and all the competitors were declared winners.

The highlight of the evening was definitely Father Christmas handing out presents to all the children up to the age of nine. They all had the opportunity to sit on his lap and receive a gift from him.
