Scooter update: Rider still in extreme pain

According to Anna-Marie van den Berg, mother of Hendrik who was involved in a serious road accident, he still suffers excruciating pain. Hendrik is being treated for his severe injuries in Netcare Milpark Hospital.
Last week the doctor transplanted a muscle from his thigh into his lower leg in order to restore movement. The doctor is also aiming to do a skin graft in February. Since the accident Hendrik has received 20 pints of blood and lost a lot of weight, said Anna-Marie.
She also would like to thank various community members for their support and help.
“I want to thank everyone who assisted my son on the scene of the accident – the lady who prayed for him and Shane who gave a statement; also Angie and her family as well as Marthinus for the dossier; Henkie for calling me from the scene and Riaan from the Roodepoort Record for all his encouragement. Finally I want to thank the paramedics as well as the Metro Police,” said Anna-Marie.
Hendrik was hit by a truck while riding his scooter on 24 October.
