The Horison-based real estate company, Only Realty, is holding a charity event in support of the Mug and Tree Community Centre. The black-tie charity drive event will take place on 25 November at Mount Usambara’s Sunset Hall.
The Mug and Tree Community Centre was created with love and care for the vulnerable children and families in Krugersdorp’s Apple Park and surrounding areas. They have a soup kitchen that feeds the underprivileged community and an Early Childhood Development project that they are currently involved with. They provide up to 300 meals a day at their soup kitchen, the Early Child Development Centre and the much-needed after-school care centre.
One of the organisers, Teri Booysen, said the event is for a good cause and urged those who can support the charity to do so.
“The community and companies are invited to show their caring side and become a part of this charitable event. The event will be filled with dinner, dancing and both silent and live auctions. A special request from the Mug and Tree Community Centre is to assist in building a baby drop-box – a warm bin, lodged in a wall, that allows parents to anonymously and legally surrender newborns, protecting the mother from discrimination and helping save the lives of newborn babies,” she said.
