National Housewife’s Day

This day was created to recognise the hard work that goes into taking care of children and a home 24/7 and to give a special thank you to the stay-at-home mom.

3 November is National Housewife’s Day, which is celebrated across the world annually.

This day was created to recognise the hard work that goes into taking care of children and a home 24/7 and to give a special thank you to the stay-at-home mom.

The term ‘housewife’ is an old term, stemming from the days when most families only had one income to support them. The mother stayed at home to take care of the household and children while the father worked.

With changing times it is not always possible for one parent to stay at home – even though it is still preferred by some. In today’s society, it usually takes two incomes to support a family, but if the mother is in a position to stay at home, the term ‘stay-at-home mom’ or ‘domestic engineer’ is preferred over ‘housewife’.

To celebrate, give the housewife in your family, or one you know, the recognition and honour she deserves for her hard work.
