National Handbag Day

Show your love for this fashion accessory on #NationalHandbagDay

10 October is National Handbag Day, which is celebrated annually. This day was created to celebrate all the different types of handbags.

This day does not only recognise the importance of handbags as an essential in daily life and a fashion item in your wardrobe – it also acknowledges the handbag as a simple way to make a style statement.

Handbags come in many shapes and sizes, from the size of an envelope to almost as large as an overnight bag. They’re available in every imaginable solid colour and every conceivable design – from leopard and zebra prints to calf-skin and rhinestones. There is truly a handbag for every taste and style.

Although mainly a women’s accessory, the term ‘handbag’ was also used in the early 1900s to refer to men’s hand baggage.

This unofficial holiday was created by Purseblog.com in 2013 and encourages people to share photos of their handbags and show their love for this fashion accessory on social media sites.

To celebrate, go out and get that high-end handbag you’ve been eyeing the whole year. Maybe your handbag is a place where things tend to get lost. If so, use this day to clean it out and organise it.

Show your style and take photos with your favourite handbags and post them on social media using #NationalHandbagDay.
