It has been a long and tough school hockey season but Maragon Private Schools‘ hockey team ended it off in style.
The U/13 boys hockey team held their heads high when they won the D12 hockey league. Then, last weekend (17 September) they team participated in the Best of the Best Tournament at St Stithians College. The team competed against various Gauteng District League winners in their age group for the title. The boys put on a show for the watching crowd and repaid their supporters with a third place finish. Their bronze medal means that Maragons’ U/13 boys teams are the province’s third best team in their age group.
The hockey team’s accomplishment left coach Michael Lazenby ecstatic. He’s already planning to do better next season.
“My young team met all of their challenges and came out successful. This bodes well for the next hockey season,” he said.
