Every child at the Rainbow Valley Christian Nursery School has the opportunity to develop to his or her full potential.
These are the aims and beliefs of principal of the nursery school, Sunitha Fernandes. Together, she and her right-hand woman and Early Childhood Development practitioner, Michelle-Chanté du Toit, organised a career day to raise career awareness and to allow the children to dress up in the career of their choice.
“A plumber, handyman, reporter/ photographer and an entrepreneur showed the children how to fix and make things. The pupils participated by dressing up in their future careers,” she said. “They had loads of fun.”
Rainbow Valley was established in 1991 and has been at its current location for 17 years. The nursery school is also a Roodepoort Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Rocci) winner, walking off with the Model Pre-school 2015 award, for having an excellent teaching and brain development programme.
“We include children from all socio-economic groups, from ages two to six years. Our vision is to develop every child to his or her full potential, so that they can have a brighter future. We are planning future events, such as a visit from the Fire Brigade, an ambulance and crew of paramedics, as well as the police, for safety awareness.
