I was traveling West down Madeline Street, Florida for the first time in about five years, and was shocked to see the deterioration of this area. The area is a veritable slum, with abandoned houses boarded up and others occupied by multiple families.
The grass is knee high on some pavements with rubbish and rubble strewn everywhere, making it difficult for pedestrians to negotiate. Surely there must be municipal by-laws that should have been applied to prevent the area developing into such a sorry state.
It is such a privilege to own your own home, and keeping it neat and tidy need not necessarily cost a fortune. The Mayoral Committee really needs to do an on-site inspection of this area. It will hopefully open their eyes.
