Update on the current power outage

Power outage affecting Witpoortjie, Technikon, Lindhaven and Grobler Park according to reports.

Power in parts of Roodepoort is off or irregular this morning, Thursday 17 March.

As far as the Record has been made aware by upset residents, it is affecting Witpoortjie, Technikon, parts of Princess, parts of Lindhaven and parts of Grobler Park.

The Record has been unable to establish the cause of the outages. Upon enquiry, it learned that Region C depot manager Noel Maso has been moved to another branch and can no longer assist in these queries.

City Power spokesperson Yumna Sheik has responded by supplying contact details for Sipho Gamede and Mdu Mzimande, who have not been available to respond to queries.

The Record has logged a fault on City Power’s website seeing as Caxton West Rand’s offices are also affected. The power has been irregular in the building since 8am. Sheik followed up on the reference number personally and confirmed a team has been sent out to the site. As far as City Power is aware, a medium vault cable has been affected. The team will inspect and due procedure will be followed to correct the fault, she said.
