Last night (14 March) at around 8pm a wild shootout between robbers, a security company and the police ensued.
DMS Security received a call that a house robbery had taken place in Amorosa and that the getaway vehicles were a Golf and a Toyota Tazz. The reaction unit spotted the Golf on Doreen Road and gave chase, but its four occupants started shooting wildly at them. The Honeydew and Muldersdrift Police were called for backup. On Peter Road the reaction unit had no choice but to return fire. The police backup joined the chase at Zandspruit informal settlement.
On the R114, close to the Lion Park, the Golf broke down and the suspects fled into a veld.
All the stolen goods were found in the vehicle.
The suspects that fled in the Golf and in the Tazz are still at large.
