#ProperationRydrate yields litres of results
Four-year-old's dream of contributing to #OperationHydrate comes true.
A four-year-old, through show-and-tell, mobilised a sizeable group of people to lobby for #OperationHydrate, or “Properation Rydrate” as he pronounces it, outside Goldman Crossing over the weekend.
On Saturday morning 12 March his school principal, Nureena Timm and her family members, as well as his family, mother and father Farhana and Faiz Hendricks as well as Luqmaan Rahim assembled at the Spar in Goldman Crossing where they set up a table, handed out pamphlets and posted huge banners propagating the cause.
4-year-old inspired ‘Proporation Rydrate’
Keyaan, 4, walked into his daycare classroom two weeks ago telling his friends about “Properation Rydrate” and the good work they do for starving and desperate people and animals. Through his story he inspired his daycare centre, Sunflower Lane, to get actively involved in collecting water. Within a week they became an official #OperationHydrate drop-off point.
As shoppers walked in and out of the grocery shop they were met by the optimistic bunch, who explained the cause and gracefully accepted any contribution. Though, typically, contributions come in liquid form of the water variety the activists were also blessed with monetary contributions.
“It is great to see that, even if it’s a R2, a child or an elderly person is willing to donate it to aid the water shortage,” Nureena told the Record.
By the end of the day 1 590 litres of water and R1 130 in cash were collected with the outreach, that only lasted a couple of hours. The money will be put to use to buy more water to contribute to #OperationHydrate, Nureena said.
