Plan your way around the M1 freeway
Use the M1 to work? Time to consider alternative routes, JRA warns.
Those who use the M1 freeway to work and back are warned to plan alternative routes as the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) plan to rehabilitate the roadway and bridges in February.
This after the Grayston temporary bridge collapsed on 14 October last year, killing two. According to JRA in a recent press release, the entity will be undertaking essential maintenance on the freeway and bridges between Killarney and Crown Interchange.
“Construction has already begun and will be completed in 2017,” they in a press statement said.
Motorists are warned to expect lane restrictions and closures from 27 February onwards. The JRA suggests planning one’s journey using alternative routes or considering making use of public transport.
