A 25-year-old child rapist was among the 331 suspects arrested in the Honeydew cluster the past few days.
Last Tuesday a mother in an informal settlement near Lanseria allegedly sent her two daughters to a spaza shop but her 15-year-old daughter did not return. The next day residents spotted the girl in the company of the alleged rapist. He was arrested on Thursday.
The other suspects were arrested for offences ranging from common assault and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, domestic violence, malicious damage to property, road traffic offences to house robbery.
The police also focused on alcohol related offences such as drinking in public.
The suspects appeared in Roodepoort and Randburg Magistrates Courts.
