Westgate celebrates birthday in style

Celebrity cake master has shoppers entranced.

On 6 November Westgate Shopping Centre celebrated its 30th birthday in spectacular fashion.

Their main guest was charming cake master Paul Viera from Extreme Cake fame who baked a cake model of the shopping centre that was 5.5m long and was decorated to the finest detail. According to Viera the cake took almost 24 hours to bake. Over and above his mind boggling talent he is also an entertainer of note and had the shoppers chanting and clapping hands.

Before the big moment of cutting the cake, a quiz was held where shoppers could win gift vouchers while a DJ kept the crowd dancing. Even the staff and management showed their dance moves to the great entertainment of the crowd.

Westgate with its 200 odd stores’ longevity proves it remains one of the most sought after shopping destinations on the West Rand.
