Immense talent at Roodepoort Dance Festival
Recently dancers of various disciplines performed their hearts out in hopes of getting first prize in the Roodepoort Dance Festival.
The festival has been running since 1981 and is held annually at the Roodepoort Theatre.
Dancers entered in genres like ballet, Latin American, modern, tap and hip hop categories.
This year, the festival ran over nine performance days with the best of the festival performing at a recent prestige evening, Isabelle de Fouw, founder of Blink Studios told the Record.
“Fifteen studios entered in the festival with over 2 000 entries.”
The winners are as follows:
• Dance off winner ballet: Jessica Lombard
• Dance off winner Latin American: Monique Saunders
• Dance off winner modern: Chelsea Roebeck
• Dance off winner hip hop: Linda Boonzaaier
• Dance off winner tap: Gabriella Gonzales
Choreography awards:
• Latin America: Wilcarina Yeates
• Ballet: Ashleigh Stebbing
• Modern: Ashleigh Stebbing and Lieze Schutte
• Tap: Mark Tadford
• Hip Hop: Isabelle de Fouw
