Roodepoort Primary: School reopens amidst allegations of child abuse
The children were happy to be back.

The mediation team has given their report and pupils are back at the embattled Roodepoort Primary this morning but certain parents once again threatened to disrupt classes.
According to the disgruntled group of parents the mediation team, convened by Gauteng Premier David Makhura, has not addressed all their grievances and there are now allegations that children are being abused at the school. Community leader Theo van Rensburg though told the Record that the footage of a child being hit is of the child’s own mother and not a teacher.
“There is no violence in the school. We are decent people in Davidsonville,” he said while smiling pupils stood inside the school to be welcomed back. Outside the school the phrase “we are relieved the school is open again” could repeatedly be heard uttered by parents.
Three woman the Record spoke to on the other hand said they were at the school to get their children’s transfer papers in order to put them in other schools.
The mediation team’s spokesperson, Reverend Gift Moerane told the media it is unfortunate that those who claimed to be victims are now the ones who wants to disrupt the children’s education again.
