Breaking news: Police bus stolen from station
Roodepoort police station hit by criminals for a most precious marked police bus.
Roodepoort Police confirmed that a police vehicle was stolen from inside the station grounds last night, Monday 8 June.
Spokesperson Warrant Officer Nonhlanhla Khumalo told the Record the white Quantum bus, that was used for special projects and operations, was stolen last night. She said the suspicion is that burglars used a gate at the back of the station to escape.
The bus has police markings but no blue lights and its registration number is BRH 197 B.
“One way to recognise the vehicle is by the large dent above the back window,” Khumalo said.
Information about the burglary has been circulated to other police stations and shared in local neighbourhood watch communications, including Honey Hills Block Watch and Western Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch (WSRNW).
A case has been opened and the investigating officer’s contact details will soon be announced.
Contact the Roodepoort Police to share any sightings of the vehicle on 011 279 6400.
