Pitbull rescued from drain
“She was rescued and brought to the kennels, but nobody claimed her.”

A pitbull was saved from an uncomfortable situation when Roodepoort SPCA senior inspector Eric Taljaard rescued her from an open drain.
It seems the drain cover was stolen and the dog fell in, Roodepoort SPCA manager Mandy Cattanach told the Record.
They received a phone call about the two-year-old dog being stuck in the drain on Friday 29 May at around 2pm. Taljaard found the open drain on Hinda Street.
After four days, it is normal procedure to put the animal up for adoption, Cattanach said.
“Somebody is already in the process of adopting her; we hope that this will be her forever home.”
The Roodepoort branch is in desperate need of storm blankets for the larger dog breeds. They are stocked up on fleece blankets for the smaller dogs and cats, but these will not be suitable for the big dogs, Cattanach said. Cats and kittens are also running low on food.
