Football feast at Trezona Park

The players chosen will get a chance to represent the ELFA in a district tournament later this year.

Florida Albion Football Club’s Trezona Park sports grounds was a feast of football as 10 teams were on show, vying for the attention of the football scouts that were present.

Easterns Local Football Associations (ELFA) selectors Len Harvey, Enrique Juanas Uriol and Shane Ducci were keeping a keen eye on the U/15 Super League games to select the very best players for their district.

However, the hosts had a bad day out on the field as they were hammered 5-0 by Benoni Northerns Football Club.

The Northerns took full advantage of Albions lack of concentration in mid-field and defence which made passing easy.

Daniel Crawshaw scored a hatrick while Venancio Pinto and Kamuhelo Mokubung scored a goal each to ensure their victory.

Albion’s head coach Stephen van Vuuren was disappointed by the result but is positive that his team can move forward from the loss.

“I am disappointed by the result today because the team lacked discipline and structure. I’m sure the boys themselves are disappointed with the result. Now we have to go back to the training field and work on our game,” he said.

The results of other matches were no different in terms of goal margins and fans were treated to some beautiful football.

Corinthians Football Club beat Sandton Football Club 5-1.

Old Parks Football Club beat Olympia Football Club 5-1.

The less fancied Luso Africa Football Club were courageous in their match against a tough Robertsham Callies Football Club. They surprised Robertsham with two quick goals in the first half. Robertsham could not recover even when they scored a goal to reduce the deficit. The match ended 3-1.

In the earlier match of the day, Bedfordview Football Club earned a narrow victory against Germiston City Football Club. The score was 2-1.
