Ballet NPO readying for Roodepoort Theatre production
For every R1 000 sponsored the company or person will also receive two VIP tickets.

Not many know that a local non-profit organisation (NPO) in the form of a ballet company exists.
The Mogale Youth Ballet is hard at work, readying their dancers for an upcoming show at Roodepoort Theatre. The organisation is an autonomous NPO which receives no allowances and is mainly funded by participation fees and ticket sales. Spokesperson Carla Turner in a press statement said that they “strive to motivate, encourage, educate, inspire and uplift the youth” and “to keep arts, specifically ballet alive”.
Auditions for the company are held each year in Krugersdorp where talented dancers between four and 18 years old are chosen. Thereafter a new ballet is choreographed to be performed at the Roodepoort Theatre.
It is their fifth year in production and they’re rehearsing for ‘The Pink Shoes’ this year, a children’s ballet, to show on 1 August. A portion of their proceeds will be donated to the Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa (Choc), Turner said.
In need of sponsorship
Sponsors comprise a vital part of such a project, Turner said, and the organisation needs more local businesspeople to come on board. As a sponsor, a company would be mentioned in the programme, be included in the slideshow at the theatre foyer and be thanked on the group’s facebook page. Furthermore, sponsoring companies are welcomed to display flyers, business cards and pop-up banners at the event.
