Why couldn’t the police assist?

I would like to let you know that the SAPS in Florida services are pathetic.

My son lost his wallet more than a week ago, reported this to the bank, stores etc, but his store card was used up to the value of R5 600.

He went to the police station to open a case of fraud, but was told that he just need to make an affidavit as the store will open a case of fraud. However, my son investigated the matter himself, and with the help of the store, etc, he managed to find out exactly who the culprit was. The employer of the culprit phoned my son to let him know that this person was in and my son went to the police station to let the police know that this person needs to be arrested for fraud.

They told him that they can’t because he doesn’t have a case number. He went to the culprits place of employment, where he found the guy, wearing the clothes etc he bought on my son’s account and his wallet with drivers licence etc. I fail to understand why the police cannot assist in a case like this, we are looking up to them for help, but in the end, you just go and waste your time with them as they are not interested in helping, including the station commander, what a joke!
