40 years in service for Baba Isaac
It was in January 1974 when Baba Isaac came to Johannesburg from KwaZulu Natal looking for employment.
La Salle College has given Baba Isaac Mzolo, the school’s groundsman an award marking his 40 years at the school.
“I was willing to take any job. My uncle helped me find work at the school. In those days there was no pre-school and no computer room and the school was boys only,” he said.
Baba Isaac quickly became familiar with the tasks of caring for the grounds and cleaning classrooms for the pupils to learn in a clean environment.
“They love me, and I love them. Meeting the different pupils who have crossed the school gate has been a highlight of working at the school,” he said.
In 1995 he obtained his driver’s licence and can frequently be seen driving a tractor, lawnmower, truck or transporting students to extra-mural activities.
