Speech is shocking

I am shocked and appalled by the President’s speech yesterday at the Freedom Day Rally.

After all the violence and heartache we as South Africans have experienced in the last period, it is senseless that our leader comes out and talks about undocumented immigrants. As he was speaking, Hillbrow was being searched.

How is this solving the problem? How does this help the problem? The President is trying to blindside us by putting the spotlight on immigrants, rather than the government of Home Affairs or the perpetrators themselves.

And after the trauma that Emmanual Sithole’s family went through, the spoke about how he was illegal in the country and used a fake name! That was not the right time or forum.

South Africa has seen too much violence and rhetoric, both in the past and in recent times, and our President’s tole is to get government in gear to solve the problem, not to join the discourse or hate and shifting the blame.
