
At least 38 suspects were arrested for various crimes in the Roodepoort precinct over Easter weekend of which many appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court this week.
This according to Roodepoort Police spokesperson Nonhlanhla Khumalo, who said many police officers were visible during the weekend, performing crime prevention and stop and search duties. It was part of a special Easter weekend operation, Khumalo said.
38 alleged criminals were arrested for cases of assault causing grievious bodily harm (GBH), possession of drugs, shoplifting, general theft and theft of motor vehicles. At least 14 of the arrests were made in connection with drunk driving.
After they were arrested the suspects were charged and detained at the Roodepoort Police Station.
On Tuesday 7 April 25 of the suspects appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court.
