Three suspected druggies nabbed

Three men in possession of drugs were arrested after leaving a suspected drug flat in the business district last week.

Two Florida Police constables were busy performing crime prevention duties in the area when they followed up on information about a block of flats from which an alleged drug dealer sells his narcotics. To confirm the suspicion that drugs were being sold, three vehicles were stopped and searched on 1 and 2 April after leaving they had left the complex.

Three men between the ages of 23 and 35 were arrested. On 1 April two of the arrests were made in Fieldhouse Street, where one man was found to be in the possession of a bag of methcathinone (streetname “cat”) and another in possession of a bag of white powder suspected to be drugs.

A third man, 23, was arrested on 2 April in Westlake Avenue after two ziplock bags containing white powder suspected to be drugs were found on him.

They appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 7 April.
