Solidarity Helping Hand’s latest national project is looking to acknowledge the mayor without keys.
The organisation is looking for community members who help in their neighbourhood.
Residents who conduct CPF patrols, fix potholes and clear grass that might pose a danger are called to enter their names so they can be thanked and recognised.
“We want to identify individuals within the community who do good deeds out of their own goodwill without asking for anything in return. We want to recognise their achievements,” said Adriaan van der Werken.
Residents can nominate a community member they think deserves to be praised for their efforts within the neighbourhood.
A Gauteng South finalist will be chosen and pitted against finalists from other regions.
The overall winner of the project will be named the official mayor without keys.
Those who want to enter or nominate should send a motivation letter of no more than 200 words to adele@helpendehand.co.za
