Kgaogelo dreams big

Florida Primary School’s Kgaogelo Maphonola was one of the winners of Shoprite’s Class of the year competition.

The competition is one of Shoprite’s many community initiatives that sponsors the school fees of hundreds of learners in South Africa each year.

The seven year olds enthusiastic account of her dream to become a teacher impressed the judges and landed her free school fees for a full year.

Learners from accross the country were invited to dream big and enter at their local Shoprite by writing a short essay, or drawing a picture, about what they would like to become one day when they have finished school.

Kgaogelo’s father Jabu said her daughter was excited when it was announced that she had won the competition.

“She was so excited she could not sleep. She loves to write whether it be in books or even on walls. As a parent I am happy to be relieved of school fees for the year,” said Jabu.
