School boy hit after playing chicken

A grade 10 pupil from Princess High school was hit by a car this afternoon.

Two boys were walking down Michael Brink Street at about 1pm when a vehicle approached from the front. The one boy allegedly pushed his friend on to the sidewalk and jumped in front of the car in what seemed to be a game of chicken.

The car hit the boy and stopped. Emergency personnel checked the boy on the scene for any broken bones after which they took him to hospital.
