
A staggering 257% more drug-related crimes were committed and detected in Honeydew during the past year than in 2013.
Robbery with aggravated circumstances in the area grew by 145 cases (16.8%) last year. At least 154 more vehicles were broken into (11.8%) and 107 vehicles were stolen in the Honeydew precinct. Forty-five more houses were broken into while residents were at home.
It is not all bad news; last year less sexual crimes were reported to the police and less cases of attempted murder were opened. Common assault and common robbery in the area decreased. Arson cases were halved (13 in comparison to 27 cases in 2013).
Overall less burglaries occurred at both residences and businesses. Residents proved to be more cautious on the road as less people were caught driving under the influene of alcohol or drugs (307 cases compared to 399 in 2013).
Although 599 more cases were opened with the Honeydew police last year, less commercial crime and shoplifting cases were recorded.
Carjacking and truck hijacking were not an apparent issue. Less residents were accused of crimen injuria.
