ANC congratulates 2014 matriculants

Elias Khumalo, ANC communications officer (email):

The ANC West Rand notes with absolute jubilation that our learners, the Class of 2014 matriculants did exceptionally well by ensuring that Gauteng Province and particularly the West Rand Region are the best performers in the entire country.

We take this opportunity to acknowledge and congratulate the Gauteng Province and the West Rand District of the Education Department for covering the subregions of the City of Johannesburg, Mogale City, Randfontein, Westonaria and Merafong for this extraordinary achievement.

The ANC especially congratulate all our learners for their sterling academic achievement, but also parents, teachers, SGB’s, society and members of the ANC who contributed as well as those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and making a success of the matric results of 2014.

As the General Secretary of the Communist Party Moses Kotane had this message to the youth in 1968 – “At this hour of destiny, your country and your people need you. The future of South Africa is in your hands and it will be what you make of it.” Indeed you have responded to this clarion call 46 years later.

We further take note of your achievement as the class of 2014 which happens in the 60th year of the freedom charter. To this end the doors of learning and culture are indeed opened to all.

The ANC West Rand wish to point out that this is the beginning of a lifelong journey for our successful learners and we wish to encourage all of them to go further with their studies at tertiary level in our quest to build a prosperous country.

This augurs well to get our young people in particular to achieve educational success in view of the developmental challenges facing our region, province and the country at large.

This will enable the education profile of our region to be enhanced as well as assist with contributing to realising an integrated, socially cohesive and economically inclusive Gauteng City Region and building a metropolitan society.

The ANC West Rand also wish to thank the Minister of Education, MEC for Education in Gauteng and our Executive Mayors for their continuous support to the learners during 2014.

The ANC West Rand Region will celebrate the success of the Class of 2014 by means of a programme to be spearheaded by the ANC West Rand Subcommittee on Education. Further details in this regard will be announced shortly.

We say: Well done to the Class of 2014! You made us very proud indeed. The future is indeed in your hands.
