12 Killed in Paris shooting

Massive manhunt for two suspects.

Twelve employees of french satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo were killed in Paris by two radical Islamic Jihadists two days ago when they stormed the magazine’s offices and opened fire.

It is believed that the reason for the terror attack was a recent cartoon of the prophet Mohammed that appeared in the magazine. This was the third attack on the magazine, of which one was a bombing, also because of cartoons of the same nature.

The police are looking for two suspects, the brothers Cherif Kouachi and Said Kouachi, and has launched a massive manhunt. Soldiers have also been deployed in the city.

The attack has been condemned worldwide. South African moulana and chairperson of the Muslim Judical Council, Ihsaan Hendricks has said “although there is more blasphemous material in the media more often, that it does not justify the taking of lives.”

South African cartoonist Jonothan Shapiro (Zapiro) has called the attack an “attack on everything I believe in”.

The French flag at the French consulate in Cape Town has been hanging half mast since yesterday.
