Business forum founded to combat crime in Florida

Concerned businessmen and women in Flora Centre have decided to unite against crime in the area.

A group of concerned entrepreneurs and Flora Centre management representatives recently founded the Business Forum Flora in Flora Centre. At the opening meeting Marie Venter (of Centra Property Group that manages Flora Centre) drew attention to security issues in and around the shopping centre.

Business Forum Flora’s prerogative is to grow the businesses that belong to it in a safe and secure environment.

“We want to push this agenda further than just the reach of our immediate environment,” said Venter.

Eighteen representatives from shops within the centre attended the first meeting.

“It is wonderful to know that so many passionate business people are getting involved from the start,” Venter told the record.

“I’m not from the area but working here, I realised the risks involved for local entrepreneurs and this forum aims to address it.”

The meeting was also attended by Captain Petrus Snyman of the Florida police, who has committed to providing regular feedback to the forum about crime circumstances in the area.

“We want local businessmen to come forward with their proposals to provide powerful blows to criminals in the area,” Venter said.

Security companies are also invited to get involved.

The forum will meet on every third Thursday of the month at the Huguenot Restaurant in Flora Centre. For further information contact Marie Venter on 071 443 1785.
