Suspect apprehended after Florida North housebreaking

Allegedly shots were fired and one suspect was critically wounded.

Four male suspects assaulted a home owner in Florida North on Sunday morning 16 November.

At approximately 3.30 am the resident awoke due to the alarm that was triggered in his house in Bertha Avenue, On Florida Community Forum spokesperson Caleb Finn said in a press statement.

“On his way to the area where the alarm was triggered he was met by four male suspect who proceeded to hit him over the head with a bottle and stab him with the bottle,” Finn said.

The resident’s security company responded to the scene and alerted the Florida police. A chase ensued.

“They chased the suspects through a nearby veld and managed to apprehend one suspect,” Finn said.

Allegedly shots were fired and one suspect was critically wounded.

A subsequent search was conducted by the Saps K9 unity and Florida North Quellerina Bergbron Community Forum (FNQB) block watch patrollers as well as various security companies but other suspects were not apprehended.

“The victim (resident) remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital,” Finn said.

Suspects stole a television set while in the house but it was recovered.

The Florida police have not yet commented on the incident.
