Biker and pedestrian killed in collision
A motorcycle collided with a female pedestrian who was trying to cross the road.
A biker died after colliding with a pedestrian on Main Reef Road this morning (5 November).
At around 6.15am the biker, travelling along Main Reef Road en route to Roodepoort tried to overtake a truck, says Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha.
Simultaneously a female pedestrian tried to cross the road. The motorcycle collided with the pedestrian.
“Both patients were in critical condition. The biker died on scene soon after the collision due to his injuries,” says Botha.
He says the pedestrian was stabilised on scene after which a Netcare 911 helicopter airlifted her to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto.
“Unfortunately, the patient died of her injuries soon after arriving at the hospital,” says Botha.
The names and ages of the patients are not known to the record.
