Meanwhile, lonely widower Philip (Pierce Brosnan) is angry at the world for the death of his recently-deceased wife, and spares no-one from his rapier-like tongue as a consequence as he prepares to attend his son Sebastian’s wedding in Italy to a girl he has never met. However, when Ida and Philip meet by chance and travel to Italy together, a romance blooms between them that neither of them foresaw happening. As this promise of a new future grows up around the pair, they find that the young, soon-to-be-married couple they have come to support have troubles of their own.
