Charities’ wishlists for September
Many organisations in Roodepoort need lots of help to operate optimally.

There are many organisations that endeavour to protect and enhance the lives of Roodepoort residents. Most of these organisations are non-profit and rely on donations from the public. Each of the following do amazing work and are deserving of any help that the public can provide.
The Baby Moses Child Sanctuary currently cares for 114 children. They need grocery items such as (fresh) milk, as they consume seven litres a day, yoghurts (preferably the six packs), cheese and cheese wedges (for lunchbox purposes), as well as the basics such as bread, rice, sugar and cereal. Good quality clothing, toys and sports equipment will be greatly appreciated. Monetary donations are also possible and will be used to pay for rent, electricity, transport and care workers. Monetary donations also are tax deductible. Contact Baby Moses on 011 768 7600 or email baby.moses@icon.co.za. Deliveries can be made to 37 Dion Street, Helderkruin. Christo de Klerk says, “Thank you for supporting Baby Moses the past 11 years. To date we have had over 300 children through our doors, and your support has made this possible.”
Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora) shelter 200 dogs and 100 cats. According to Shayne Ephron they are in desperate need of large quantities of quality dog and cat food. They also need cat sand, blankets and a lawn mower. Monetary donations are welcome by sponsoring a kennel for a R100 a month, smsing ‘FORA’ to 38844 for a R10 donation or by arranging a debit order for monthly donations. Contact 082 336 5568 or 072 413 5364 or visit www.fora.org.za.
Pathways Roodepoort caters for children with profound disabilities with ages from just a few months to 20 years old. They have classes that teach literacy, numeracy and computer skills. They also have therapeutic classes. They require therapeutic equipment such as a plinth, wedges, a roller, mats and balls. They would like some wheelchairs and positioning buggies. Children’s books, battery-operated toys, music equipment and peg puzzles would be appreciated greatly. Paints and craft items, safety scissors, glue and paper also are required. They need three first aid kits or at least some gauze, bandages, plasters and antiseptic ointment. Due to increased crime in the area they would like some assistance with obtaining and installing burglar bars, palisade fencing and CCTV cameras. Plastic chairs, metal tables, gazebos and garden umbrellas in good condition also are needed. Groceries such as rice, pasta, sugar, margarine, cooking oil, tea, coffee, soap, toilet paper and aqueous cream are needed as well. You can sponsor a child for R100 a month, sponsor their therapy, or sponsor the teachers’ training courses. Cycling for Pathways needs at least 200 riders to compete in the 94.7 race to help raise funds. Alternatively you can sponsor a cyclist and contribute that way.
