Update: Truck accident caused by drunk driver

The driver, who delivers chrome from Rustenburg allegedly went on a drinking spree after his delivery on Saturday evening.

The driver of the truck that crashed into the Pro West car dealership on Sunday 10 August was arrested by the Sophiatown police and charged with reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Regrettably, the driver crashed into Pro West car dealership damaging a traffic light, fencing of the dealership and three stationary cars on sale.

Speaking to the owner of the truck, Timothy Malekane, he said, “I was under the impression that my driver had parked the trailer as I had instructed him to do”.

“Apparently he appeared in court this morning (Monday).

“Not that I care.”
