Fierce competition at Sables Trips 2014

Perfect weather and competitive bowling at finals.

Leases Bowling Club recently hosted the semi-finals and finals of the 2014 Sables Men’s and Ladies’ Trips.

This year with almost perfect weather, the morning and afternoon sessions certainly were a display of very competitive bowling.

The two men’s teams taking the green for the first semi were JJ Bedford-Owen and his team from Discovery Bowling Club, and Alec Nel and his team from Rustenburg Impala Bowling Club.

In the second semi Derek May and his team from Ruimsig Bowling Club met Aggie Aggenbach and his team from Leases Bowling Club.

In the Ladies’ section, Rika Lynn and her team from Discovery Bowling Club competed against Mabs Rees and her team from Ruimsig Bowling Club in their semi-final.

Annetjie Briel and her team from Rustenburg Impala Bowling Club played against Hester Bekker and her team from Leases Bowling Club.

Bedford-Owen and Aggenbach won their semi-final games and secured a place in the men’s finals. Lynn won her game and was to meet Briel in the ladies’ finals. Rees and Bekker played off for the third and fourth placing in the ladies section, while Nel played May for third and fourth position in the men’s section.

Final results were as follow:

Men:

Sables Men’s Trips Winners – JJ Bedford-Owen, Johnson Loabile and Louis Fourie (Discovery)

Runners Up – Aggie Aggenbach, Sakkie Oostehuizen and ertie Burdett (Leases)

Third place – Derek May, Dave Hill and Brian Oxley (Ruimsig)

Fourth place – Alec Nel, Johan Robertse and Vincent Dinale (Rustenburg)

Ladies:

Sables Ladies Trips Winner – Rika Lynn, Ute Smith and Nicky Kersandt (Discovery)

Runners-up – Annetjie Briel, Tracey Meredith and Joey Herbst (Rustenburg)

Third place – Hester Bekker, Marie Nel and Cathy Goosen (Leases)

Fourth place – Mabs Rees, Sandra Viljoen and Monique van Rensburg (Ruimsig)
