Every Thursday is Howl night at Wolves. They host the best in up-and-coming local music. This week, all the way from Australia, Tom Thum and Jamie MacDowell will be performing. One is good with his fingers, the other is good with his mouth! MacDowell and Thum are two honest, unpolished but highly skilled performers, simply doing what they love. MacDowell’s brand of heartfelt songwriting and melodic finger-work is elevated when combined with Thum’s heavy hitting, world-class beatboxing. Entrance is free of charge. Join the crowd at Amuse Café for an evening of sound experimentation like you’ve never heard before. Johannesburg-based Albino Beach has been experimenting with the instrumental genre for more than seven years and is acknowledged as one of South Africa’s more diverse live music acts. Having started as a three-piece in 2007, Albino Beach released its début, self-titled EP with American label Forgotten Empire Records the following year, which garnered the band interest globally. After a two-year hiatus, Albino Beach returns with a six-piece outfit, featuring acclaimed violinist Waldo Alexander and Serbian noise guitarist Nenad Djelic. The band is known for fusing various genres including free jazz, post and progressive rock, Afro beat, funk and electronica. The show starts at 8pm and costs R60 per person.
