Mr and Miss Johannesburg crowned

Mr and Miss Johannesburg were crowned at Engedi Wedding and Conference Venue in Muldersdrift over the weekend.

Out of the many entries to the competition, eight girls were crowned and 11 were chosen as first and second princesses.

Thabo Eugene walked away as Mr Johannesburg, after being a Mr South Africa finalist last year. Mostly West Randers entered, however, in the junior categories there were entries also from Klerksdorp, Rustenburg, Kempton Park and Springs.

The entrants had to collect charity goods (clothing et cetera) and get cash sponsorships. They also were judged on their personality, natural beauty and poise. The Fire and Ice theme of the day was incorporated in their outfits, and the most unique outfit also was considered.

The pageant boasted well-known and intelligible judges, including Suzette Marais (author, owner of Top Model SA), Suret Stroh (owner of Lady Gracious), Rudie Cupido (stylist for Mr South Africa), Jaco Gerrits (Mr South Africa finalist), Leon Haasbroek (model booking agent at Boss Models), Cecile Brits (winner of Super Model SA and Super Model World), and Karabo Mauba (Mamelodi Sundowns Gauteng winner and 1st princess in Mamelodi Sundowns SA).

Elsabé de Lange from Just You Model Management was not only a judge, but also scouted talent for an international showcase to be held at Montecasino later this year.

“The competition is owned by Role Models SA that are based in Cape Town. My husband and I partnered with them to organise this year’s pageant,” said Carin Hoffman, organiser.

“The money raised and goods collected will benefit the Infundu Educare Project and Samaritaan Huis, both based in Boksburg.”

Cindy Brits (Mrs Tshwane 2013) was MC at the event and is in charge of the Samaritaan Huis project for the next five years.
