Mokotjo’s PEC Zwolle in SA next month

... to officially open the five-a-side field.

Members of Dutch Cup winners PEC Zwolle, who have two South Africans on their books, are due in Stellenbosch in July for the opening of a five-a-side field.

The club also plan to camp in Stellenbosch again during the European winter break, just as they did last season.

In the first week of July, members of PEC Zwolle as well as members of the KNVB (The Royal Dutch Football Association) and potentially a member of the Dutch parliament will be in Stellenbosch to officially open the five-a-side field as part of the ongoing relationship with Stellenbosch University and their developing soccer project.

Bafana Bafana international, Kamohelo Mokotjo, has not yet been confirmed as one of the members who will be in the country, given that it is getting close to pre-season again.

Zwolle spent time in Stellenbosch during December 2013 and played friendly games against the likes of National First Division side Vasco da Gama and Premiership team Ajax Cape Town.

The Dutch club have a working partnership with the Stellenbosch University and offer technical support and expertise to the development of football in the Cape Winelands area.

Already there are several links in place that will benefit the long term dream of Stellenbosch having a top-flight football franchise in the South African Premier League.

Coaching and administration expertise are already in place at school and amateur youth level in the Stellenbosch region’s Local Football Association, while the University’s senior team, known as Maties and who play in the SAB Regional league, have already enjoyed input from PEC Zwolle.

The other South African in the PEC Zwolle squad is Dean Patricio, but he has not featured much for the side.
