Meyer impressed with Burger’s impact

Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer says the return of experienced forward Schalk Burger adds more depth to his squad.
Burger completed his comeback this past weekend when he came off the bench during the Boks’ 47-13 win over a World XV side at Newlands.
“It is great to have someone with Schalk’s incredible experience in the squad and it is also amazing to have a player who has so much skill and can play anywhere in the back row coming off the bench for you,” said Meyer.
“This week was the first time I have worked with Schalk and I have been impressed.”
The 31-year-old has played at number 8 as well as on both flanks during his illustrious career and his versatility makes him a valuable weapon for the Boks going forward.
Burger recently signed a two-year deal with Japanese side Suntory Sungoliath where he will link up with Bok teammate Fourie Du Preez.
As a result, he will miss this year’s Currie Cup but he is set to return to the Stormers ahead of the 2015 Super Rugby campaign.
