New Summer Touch Rugby League champs crowned

Winter season to kick off on 6 June.

The West Rand Touch Rugby League crowned three new champions after the summer leg of the competition came to a close last month.

Staalballe beat Kagiso in the final to be declared the new Super League champs while the Young Guns – who were promoted after lifting the 2nd Division trophy in 2013 – won the 1st Division with a victory over Finger Puppets in the final.

The new 2nd Division title holders are Madalas who beat Black Coffee in the final.

With the summer leg of the season now in the past, organisers and players are looking forward for the winter leg, which will kick off on 6 June. The season will last for 10 weeks.

“West Rand Touch rugby is played every Wednesday evening from 6.30pm in Krugersdorp (Rant en Dal) at the Sterkfontein Heritage Lodge,” organiser Kobus Kruger said.

“The league is for those interested in cardiovascular, non-contact exercise. Individual players, friends, school teams, corporate companies and women teams in the West Rand area are encouraged to enter their teams into the West Rand Touch Rugby League to avoid disappointment.”
