Ice and police arrest two in attempted burglary

Joint effort spoils another group of thieves' party.

Two suspects were arrested for attempted burglary following a joint effort by patrollers of In Case of Emergency (Ice) and the Florida Police.

According to Ice Chairman Luqmaan Rahim, “Just after 2pm on 30 April neighbours heard dogs barking and a banging on the security gate at a home in Rail Street. Upon investigating, they spotted three men breaking the security gate.

“Ice patrollers were then alerted and on our arrival the three suspects fled on foot on the railway line towards Maraisburg.

“Together with Florida Police we gave chase and caught two of the suspects. They were arrested by police, but the third suspect escaped and is still at large.”

Ice assists the local police in safeguarding the Florida community against criminal activities.

Spokesperson for the Florida Police Station, Captain Lydia Dikolomela is yet to confirm when the men will appear in court.

The security gate the burglars had broken down. They were caught before they could complete their criminal activities.
