GDE reviews 20 years

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) will host a 20 Year Review Conference on Tuesday 15 April to reflect on the provision of education in Gauteng since the advent of democracy.

According to the spokesperson of the GDE, Phumla Sekhonyane, “The aim of the conference will be two-pronged, a historical assessment of achievements and challenges of the past 20 years, and a forward-looking preparation to meet future trends in education.

“It will bring together education stakeholders to discuss, among other issues, the progress and the remaining gaps in the implementation of major outcomes of the past 20 years.

“The conference also will focus on new and emerging challenges for the next two decades in the education sector.”
