Six people have been injured in a collision between a bakkie and small truck on Randfontein Road in Witpoortjie early on the morning of 20 March, according to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.
ER24 paramedics and rescue services responded to the scene to find two vehicles blocking one lane, the bakkie showing significant damaged. Paramedics began their inspection of the scene, finding six patients, their injuries ranging from minor to moderate including back injuries, head injuries and lacerations.
Treatment was started on the patients and ER24 immobilised three patients on spine boards before rapidly transporting them to a nearby hospital. Other services on scene treated and transported the remaining of the patients.
Witnesses told paramedics that the truck had apparently drove into oncoming traffic before colliding with the bakkie.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
